Tax-Savvy Ways to Give
Did you know that certain assets are particularly suited for charitable giving? You may be able to give from your IRA, make a stock transfer, or give from your Donor Advised Fund.

Give From Your IRA
If you are older than 70.5 and have an IRA account, you can make a transfer directly from your IRA to the Michigan Parkinson Foundation without paying taxes on the transfer. This type of transaction is called a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD). If you are older than 73, a QCD to the Michigan Parkinson Foundation will count toward your required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year. Ask your IRA fiduciary about their process for Qualified Charitable Distributions.

Make a Stock Transfer
Donating stock or other appreciated securities is a win-win. Making a stock transfer directly to MPF will support our work in the Parkinson’s community. Plus, you avoid paying capital gains tax on your appreciated asset. Ask your brokerage firm about their process for initiating a stock transfer.
Once you’ve initiated a stock transfer, please notify Michigan Parkinson Foundation by completing this form.

Give Through Your Donor Advised Fund
If you have a Donor Advised Fund (DAF), it’s easy to make a grant to the Michigan Parkinson Foundation. Contact your grant administrator and designate your request to: Michigan Parkinson Foundation Tax ID #38-2494280.
