LIVING WITH & UNDERSTANDING PARKINSON'S DISEASE

A Program for People with Parkinson’s and their Families

This 5-week series, is provided by The Michigan Parkinson Foundation in conjunction with Spectrum Health Medical Group. The series provides information and discussion on all aspects of living with Parkinson’s disease (PD). This program is of value to the newly diagnosed as well as patients and families dealing with PD for several years.

The program will take place at:

Integrated Care Campus at East Beltline

September 19          The Role of Physical Therapy, Occupational therapy and Exercise in Managing Parkinson’s

September 26          Speech and Swallowing Issues

October 3                  Managing Non Motor Symptoms of Parkinson’s

October 10                Mental Health Issues: Coping with Depression and Anxiety

The workshops will be presented by health care professionals who specialize in Parkinson’s disease from the Neurosciences | Orthopedic Health Departments of Spectrum Health Medical Group.

2019 PARKINSON SYMPOSIUM: RESPONSIVE, QUALITY, COMPASSIONATE CARE FOR THE PERSON WITH PARKINSON'S DISEASE

Presented by the Michigan Parkinson Foundation in conjunction with Institute of Gerontology, Wayne State University

Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, MI

Goal: To educate health care professionals and family members who provide daily care for people with Parkinson’s. 

Audience: Administrators and nursing staff in long term care and assisted living facilities, short and long term rehab facilities, home health care agencies,  and family members who are providing daily care for a loved one with Parkinson’s disease.

Format: The program will offer a dual track:

  • Health Care Professionals with CEU’s offered for RN’s, social workers, physical therapists, occupational therapist, and speech pathologists.
  • People with Parkinson’s and their care partners
